The Lives They Loved

One of the sad parts of reaching the end of the year is letting go of the souls that were lost along the way -- somehow, even if they've been gone for a while, it's still difficult to let the last year in which they lived slip away. The New York Times asked people to share the photos and stories of the loved ones who left us during the year and their photos and memories can be haunting and comforting, sad and beautiful. Here is one.

The other 257 submissions are here. Many of the photos are breathtaking and the accompanying commentary is, at times, heartbreaking, but still wonderful to read. My family's losses this year included the old and, heartbreakingly, the young, but all were loved and cherished as much as those mentioned in this collection of tributes.

Alice, I'm sorry to hear of any loss. But I've found your blog again.

Thanks, Tut! I'm hoping to get back to regular blogging in 2013 (there's a lot of that going around, eh?)! ;-D
