Back!!

Hello, Internet!

Yesterday was a 36-hour Monday for me. I spent it working my way from Shanghai to Chattanooga after a two-week adventure in China. I have lots of photos and fatigue and am filled with inspiration after eating an incredible amount of Chinese food -- I'm looking forward to some adventures in cooking this summer as I try to recreate some of the dishes I sampled along the way.

More later, but in the meantime, here's a photo from the trip (from the Shanghai Museum)...

Welcome back! You/updates on blog were missed. :-) BTW, when I photograph now, I keep trying to "do it like Alice" because you seem to capture the most interesting shapes and juxtapositions in your photos. Like this one.

Thank you!! This trip was a bit of an a photographic adventure for me -- for the first time in years, I traveled without my trusty Canon Rebel SLR. I just couldn't see hauling the camera (and its huge lens!) on a two-week slog, so I got myself a Canon Powershot SX260HS -- a great little pocket camera with a 20x zoom. I got it right before we left, so there was a bit of a leap of faith involved, but I'm pretty pleased with the results. Hopefully, I'll be posting more photos from the trip soon...

Welcome back. I was just thinking this morning how much money I've wasted on expensive camera gear over the years when technology improvements keep advancing rapidly making cameras more powerful and cheaper. I don't like lugging my heavy DSLR and lens even around town much less across the world. Looking forward to the pics.

I was pleased with the results from my little powershot. After spending the day today processing photos for facebook, I'm really starting to wonder when I'll be willing to lug the big camera around again. We'll see how printing goes, though...
