Friday Update

Well, internet, it's gotten crazy around here again (still?) and I haven't been keeping up. And to be honest, I don't think I'll be posting much until we've got both feet planted firmly in summer around here -- there's just too stuff much coming up and going on in the next few weeks.

But here are a couple of interesting items from today...

My dog killed a baby bird this morning (I think she was just trying to make friends), and I think the mom is still pissed. This morning, I heard a commotion out in the back yard and when I went to investigate there was a dead baby bird, and a very angry adult bird squawking and dive bombing the dog. And now I think that same bird is outside the dog's window (she's got a spot where she hangs out, next to a window), shrieking and flying at the window. It's spooky.

And then a totally unrelated thing, but I'll mention it because I was a big fan of Google Docs, which is now being replaced with Google Drive. This could be cool...

I signed up for Google Drive. Google may finally have something that'll be embraced by the general public (unlike Wave and +), in part because we need an alternative to Apple's iCloud.

Time to embrace cloud living, anyway. I was mucking around with my budget and long-term saving and it occurred to me that my 17" MacBook Pro may be the last high-end computer I ever buy. I need a computer really only for my astrology software. Everything else can be done on the web in some way or via apps on mobile devices.

PS: Poor Nonnie! She won't be safe in her own yard if that parent bird doesn't chill. I wonder how long a bird can stay angry? You'll keep us posted on that, yes?

I recently got an iPad, and am wondering the same sorts of things about my MacBook.... we'll see. I still do prefer the non-virtual keyboard...

I think the angry bird has finally backed off. But we do have a new set of babies on a shelf (out of Nonnie's reach!) on the balcony... pics coming at some point...
