'Scuse me while I whine about the weather...

But first, let me make this clear: I'm grateful for the lack of earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes and pestilence here. There's been some whacky weather elsewhere recently and I don't want to draw that this way. I just need to whinge for a moment because this month has been all about reliving the same day over and over and over again.

Here's the sad graphic. Check out the rain totals for the month. Go ahead -- see if you can do the math in your head!  ;-)

That's right, folks! In the month of August, we got a whopping 0.01 inches of rain here in Chattanooga (according to that link, prior to this month, the driest month on record was September of 1879!). You should see what used to be the grass out in the yard on the regolith that surrounds my house. And there's not a lot of hope for improvement in the immediate future:

Keep in mind that this is pretty much the same 10-day forecast we've had all month long. Some hope of cooler temperatures and a slight chance of rain waaaay off in the distance, but as those days approach, the temps will edge up and the chance of rain with dwindle... until pretty much every day is sunny and clear with a high in the mid to upper 90s. Sigh.

Perhaps this evening, I should hoist a pint for Dea and Deus Latis -- thereby quenching my thirst while also summoning some water gods (yeah, I'm looking at you, Tlaloc and Tefnut).
