Scary. I hope all were OK.

I can't remember when I've heard of so many bad storms and tornados. Looks like the house lucked out. Where was this?

That's a neighbor's house, just two blocks from here. And a block up in another direction is another huge tree laying in the middle of the road, only that one took down a bunch of lines with it (you may have seen those pics on facebook).

This morning is a sunny, calm day, but I'm still hearing frequent sirens and as I sit here with my window overlooking a major downtown artery that's just a block over, I am seeing a lot of emergency vehicles going by (within just a few miles of my house, there are several hospitals, a couple of fire stations, and the electric power board's base of operations). I took a walk a little earlier to check on a few neighbors, and it appears that more are without power than have it. There are so many trees and lines down everywhere.

95,000 customers in this area lost power yesterday, and most of those are still not reconnected. The fatality count is rising as crews get out and sort through the devastation.

I'm am feeling incredibly lucky right now, in my house that is still standing, with a refrigerator that is running, and with all my friends and family accounted for.
