Summer Art

I've been cleaning off the hard drive a bit this past week and ran across a few photos from the summer that never made it up, for whatever reason. So, here's a bit of a bonus travelogue entry...

We got to see a lot of art in our travels over the break -- some of it was incredible, and some of it... well, see for yourself...

The highlight of the summer, art-wise, was our visit to the Art Institute of Chicago, which has a legendary collection that I'd never seen before (except via Ferris Bueller). Here is Emmie, admiring Picasso's The Red Armchair...

... and Edward Hopper's Nighthawks. We spent most of an afternoon there, taking in the whole collection.

But then we also encountered some alarming and/or disturbing art at an antique store in Columbus, including this creepy clown man...

... and this rather bizarre 'Stash-Jesus with the strategically-placed candle holder threatening his nipples when he's already stuck up on the cross.

Man, Columbus is a rough town.
