Getting there...

I kinda missed my former theme -- even with all its faults -- so I'm in the process of shifting things over to an approximation of the old site. Back when I made the switch to the new server, I was in a big rush and didn't have time to convert the template from Movable Type to Wordpress, so I just grabbed a Wordpress template (Amazing Grace, which was very nice, but I missed the old colors) and threw things together. I never did really get things set up properly, but hopefully I'll finally get to doing that in the next few days (weeks?). If you see something that's broken, please let me know -- I'll be working on getting the kinks out ASAP!

Just when I was getting quite comfy with the new look - and the changing picture at the top...

As you were! ;-)

It's amazing how closely this resembles the old format. Great job! It looks like you have about 10 px whitespace at top - I think that comes from this:

[div id="topbar"][/div]

#topbar is defined with height 10px - so that would be about right. I'm not at home with firebug, so I can't say for sure.

Oh - also in .commenttitle - I'm not sure if text-transform: uppercase is intentional or not. I don't remember that before.

I prefer this format greatly. I thought the other one too bland, but did like the picture. Not that it really matters--I'm here for the words!

Thanks, everyone. I'll chipping away at everything (I think I addressed your issues, smijer -- thanks! Let me know if I didn't). I realize too, that I'll have to update the header image, since we no longer have the Worst President Ever and all...

Yeah, well, you may want to be careful about putting Obama in there with the monkeys. Seems to make people think of racism. How about putting in the word "socialism"? That seems to be a very scary word on your side of the pond. ;-)

Oy vey! I didn't even think of that. Well, I guess I'm going to push the envelope, then, because what's done is done and it's not the weekend anymore, so I can't piddle with it again for a while. ;-D

I guess I just revealed my recent internet diet. (I read the damnedest things, present company not excluded. ;-) )

The internet is nothing if not a warren. ;-)

Well - yeah ... except now the header image repeats - but I bet you're on that. Say, how did you get the "Notify me" option? I'd like to have that at my place...

If you reload a few times, a new, taller header image should eventually appear.

Are you using wordpress? Hrmmm... I checked & yes, you are. So all you need is this handy-dandy little plugin: subscribe to comments. I can't remember how I found it, but it's great for making it easier for the conversation to continue!

Well, and now I've gone and found another issue -- I'll fix the css so that link shows up this evening...

Awesome - thanks for the assist on that.

Hi: Look sgood to me but then I thought all of them looked ok. Once i get used to a format (takes about 5 min) I can't remember what it looked like before anyway...)

But there seems to be a huge empty space on top, at least when I view on IE. The blog text does not begin until the bottom of the "Blog Categories" which appears on the left side. That leaves a large blank space down the middle of the blog page which I doubt is suppoed to look like that. Unless that is just my own browser weirdness?

I like the new header! "Boneheaded design", indeed. ;-)

Lucy, I think you're seeing the problem with IE. It doesn't follow CSS-standards. The very latest version is supposed to handle CSS better. Try that, or try Safari or Firefox. :-)

Hey, I thought you were still down until today. On my monitor on the blog page, I saw new comments being made in the top left column but the middle column was completely blank. I scrolled down the page today and found the blog content. It doesn't start on my monitor until the very bottom of the left column. This only occurs on IE7. It looks normal on Firefox. I'm running Vista(not by choice) on a 1920x1200 display.

o, i see Lucy's comment above already covered this. Need more coffee.

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to fix that issue without being able to see it myself. I might have to just switch to one of the more thoroughly-tested wordpress themes...

I really hate IE. Why a supposedly competent company like microsoft is incapable of producing a standards-compliant browser is completely beyond me. Until they do, their damn browser should be banned.
