Oh, this is sad -- Oscar Wilde closing...

New York's Oscar Wilde Bookshop is closing, another victim of the Bush economy. Emmie and I spent a good part of an afternoon there a several years ago and both of us were amused when, as we were checking out, it became clear that the cashier thought we were a couple. Anyway, it's a very cool shop and I'm sorry I won't be able to swing through the next time I'm in the city (but maybe Emmie can make one last visit when she's up there for spring break next month).

Meg Ryan's little book shop in You've Got Mail comes to mind...the small guys hardly have a chance in the best economy, let alone this one!
