Pat and Rudy

So, Pat Robertson, an anti-abortion homophobe who thinks Episcopalians, Presbyterians and Methodists harbor the spirit of the antichrist and claims he can leg press 2,000 pounds, thinks Rudy Giuliani, a thrice-married, philandering, pro-choice, pro-gay rights, sorta Roman Catholic whose priest was suspended amid molestation allegations, is our best choice for president.

What a world. It gets stranger by the moment.

I'm kinda surprised that Rudy would be proud of the endorsement, much less willing to be seen in public with such a crazy crackpot, but perhaps desperate times do call for desperate measures.

(I wonder if this means Pat Robertson really does believe that the Morman Church is a cult?)

That is a surprising endorsement. But Rudy does have a few things going for him, in terms of placating "values voters." There's his authoritarianism, his poor record on race relations, and his current status as front-runner. The televangelists do like to back a winner.

So weird, hunh? I'd think Hillary had a better chance that Rudy. I think she actually believes in God.

I liked the way Lew Rockwell responded:

"I am not at all surprised that Christian right leaders like the Rev. Robertson are endorsing men like Giuliani. The core values of the "Values Voters" are war and the police state. So long as a Republican candidate is for killing Muslims and taking a taser to anyone who says a discouraging word domestically, they are on his side."

Love the way you added "claims he can leg press 2,000 pounds,". I had forgotten that but it is a great addition to the list.

I know I should be waterboarded for my attitude but politics is primarily entertainment for me and the upcoming Presidential election is shaping up to be more fun than 10,000 barrels of monkeys.

Buck, I think I might try to join you in that politics-as-entertainment approach to elections this time around. If I don't, it's going to drive me absolutely insane...
