Monday Links

Here are a whole lot of Rush Limbaugh's phony soldiers. Sure, they didn't get out of serving with an ass pimple, and most of them probably don't abuse painkillers or a certain male dysfunction medication, but aren't they just a bunch of nancy-pants phonies!

If the presidential election ends up being a contest between the New Yorkers (Hillary vs. Rudy), will that knock the hard-core activists out of the fight? We've already gotten a glimpse of how the left wing feels about Hillary. Apparently it's about the same way the radical right feels about Rudy. Will either group hold their noses and vote for their party's nominee? Or would this matchup bring about even lower voter turnout? Or some third party fun? Stay tuned....

Are the woes of the black American male simply the result of racism as Al Sharpton would have us believe, or is there more to it than that? Anthony at The Institute quotes Orlando Patterson at the NYTimes and asks why the church hasn't stepped up to the plate. The discussion is interesting.

I think this will be the first election that really happens in the primaries. If the race is Giuliani v. Clinton then we will probably see a credible third candidate and possibly a fourth. Neither 3rd or 4th will win, but 08 will be complete disarray. And that doesn't even speak for the Ron Paul factor.

I am recently starting to think that Ron Paul is going to be a big spoiler, if not more. I know people I'd never expect who are seriously considering him.

Maybe this shows how out of touch I am, but what I'd wish for is a Howard Dean vs. Newt Gingrich election. That would really shake out the cobwebs and get the ideas flying.

Where's BIG AL, dammit!!!!

Giuliani is toast as far as the (self)righteous right is concerned.

Hillary is a playah, as far as *I'm* concerned.

BIG AL (and he's truly big these days) is the only viable candidate, IMO.

Several of my relatives were certain - CERTAIN! - that Gore would be in the race by now. Guess he's staying out.

Maybe he'll announce when he's picking up his Nobel Prize later this month...

Thanks for the links to the debate about what's happening to the black man. I had an epiphany while reading John Grisham's book "The Street Lawyer" about arresting the homeless. Many have jobs but the moment they can't come to work because they're in prison, even if it's just a few days, they lose the job. Then, when they get out of prison, they are truly in the wind, and often never get back on their feet again, forced to burden welfare and charity. I see now that the same thing is happening to the black community due to the, it now seems, too zealous anti-drug laws in the US.

Well, that would certainly be better than doing it on Jay Leno.

He's getting the Nobel? (I don't have a TV, and besides, haven't had cable for about 15 years). Well. We could do much worse.

I guess he did a deal with the she-devil and agreed to stay out of her way. Dammit.

I don't think it's been covered on the TV -- the only place I've seen people talk about the fact that Gore's been nominated for the nobel is on the 'net. Near as I can tell, the TV news isn't interested unless it's Britney, OJ, or yet another pervert from the GOP...
