Images of Protest

Of all the pictures I took, I think this photo best conveys the energy and joy of the people who participated in today's protest as Bush visited Chattanooga. Note the little girl in the lower right, covering her ears.

And here is a short video clip of the crowd enjoying the right to free expression. It was a great group -- both respectful in dealing with the cops and boisterous in expressing opinions. I was very impressed.

It says the video is no longer available. What happened?

It's recently uploaded, so it's not available yet. Sorry 'bout that. It usually doesn't take this long...

Looks like fun. Sorry I couldn't be there. I talked to a state trooper last night, in town to "escort" the presnit (I guess that means block all the interstate entrances & exits). I said, must be interesting. She said she was more interested in working the race in Bristol. Ha.

Dude at work said (of the traffic) "he's screwing up the whole city". Naturally, yours truly returned with "... whole country". Lots of laughs at work today about the visit. A surprisingly friendly crowd - you know where I work. Not many Bush fans left there.

Yep... screwed up the whole city. But I must say I've seen the most balanced news reporting ever in Chattanooga. I would almost say I'm impressed, but it wasn't that balanced...

Good work! I *knew* that there had to be more protesters out than appeared in the photo on chattanoogan.com!

I'm going to start reading your blog/roll as part of my process of deciding whether or not to move home to Chattanooga and become the hydroponic sprout queen of the Tennessee Valley.

18 months on, I am beginning to conclude that it's time to flee New Orleans.

Oh, I hope you do come back! We need all the protest-sympathizers we can get! I think we can turn this town Blue in the 2008 election!
