Let the Snow Day begin... (updated!)

It's supposed to snow in Chattanooga during the night. By 9am, it should all change over to rain (down here in the valley, anyway), but nevertheless, some schools have already announced that they will be closing tomorrow. Are they being super-careful? Or just many years overdue for a snow day!?

Well, there's a bunch of happy children who will get to stay up a little late tonight. I hope some more kids will wake up to good news in the morning.

Be careful and stay warm, everyone. And don't forget to go out during the worst of it to get some milk and bread! :-D

UPDATE: this just in... UTC is closed until NOON (this is also according to the email G-Dog just got from Chuck Cantrell).

I grew up in East Tennessee and they always do things like that. What was ironic was when they would cancel school and then nothing would happen. Grocery stores are nuts because everyone rushes to get milk and bread and sometimes fight over it too! It's insane! LOL :)

The thing that cracks me up is all the people who go out DURING the bad weather to get their 3 gallons of milk and 5 loaves of bread. Usually snow lasts for a few hours, tops, around here, so if they'd just wait a little while, they can go out in mere rain, instead of in the scary, wintry weather.

Of course, I also wonder what they do with all that milk and bread...

I know that this has been the case since the blizzard we had in the early 90's, but has it always been this way?

Should I go get 100 gallons of diesel for the generator?

Don't you already have 100 gallons of fuel for the generator?

What kind of redneck are you?!?

And I've only been here since 1990, so to me, it has always been this way...

It's been that way since I was a kid in the 70's and I would say it was like that long before. Part of it's charm...Or lack there of depending on how you look at it! ;) LOL
