Damn...

And now Wilson Pickett is gone. There have been all kinds of stories recently about how the first of the baby boomers are starting to hit their 60s about now. And I'm thinking, "well, yeah -- if they're lucky." There are a lot of icons who rose to prominence during that great stretch of time from the days when Rock 'n' Roll morphed off of the blues and country up through whenever it exploded in the face of disco and rap and grunge and other icky pressures, and while we've already lost a number of them, most of those have been taken from us prematurely. I think we're entering a whole new stage where the deaths will be from old age. Less shocking, perhaps, but still painful losses...
